Jag, Zazzi, Mira & Vinna

How it all beagan
MiVinna's kennel was registered in januari 2008. My name is Emelie Merenius and it's me that own the kennel. I live here in Ljurhalla, Vårgårda (about 80 km north of Gothenburg) together with my fiancee Clas. The name "MiVinna's", I got because i wanted to honour my first dog (Mingo) and I wanted to have Vinna in the name, because she is the reason Ii finally got the chance to start my kennel. I've had plans to start a kennel for many years, but it wasn't until I got my aussie, Vinna, that I finally had a female good enough for breeding, that meets up to the high expectations I have on a great god.

I've been active with dogs in almost my whole life. My dad is a tracking, searrch and obedience judge and my mom have been holding dogclasses for many years. So I just slipped into that way of life me to. In 2006 I started Vinna Hundcenter (Vinna Dogcenter), so now a days I work full time with dogs. More about this and my education in Vinna Hundcenter's page .

Mingo

1995 I got my first dog. It was a male sheltie called Mingo (Tiona Mingoot Star). I was almost 13 years old then. Together with him my interest in dogs grew. We competed in agility and obedience. He champion in both agility and obedience. But when he got his champion title in obedience I decided to concentrate fully on agility. He was a pretty stubborn and difficult dog to work with (and was a bit afraid of other people), so it wuold make it a lot easier to just focus on one sport. As our finest result we managed to take the bronze medal in agility individuals.

But it took me two more shelties (+ training and competing with my parents german shepherds) before I started to look for another breed. And it was now that I came across the wonderful breed Australian Shepherd. I (and especially my parents) was a little hesidant at first, because I had both heard of and seen some "bad" Aussies. So I searched for a good combination for a couple of months and found it at Riitta at Kreivi's kennel. Riitta was going to take a litter by her female Raffa (Merica's Over and Out) and they were to be born in january of 2006. So in the 25:th of january my little Vinna was born. An abslolutely wondeful dog that completely tore down all the prejudices we earlier had about Aussies. Thank you Riitta for this wonderful dog and for all the help you give me with my breedingplans. It's invaluable!

Breeding
My goal is to breed truly versatile Aussies. For me, thats an Aussie that "has it all": the joy to work, a sound mentality and that looks like an Aussie. I have a small kennel and only take litters where I could consider keeping a pup.

For me the soundness is everything in my breeding. If you don't have a healthy dog (in both mind and body) it's hard to fully enjoy your Aussie. There shouldn't be anything like that obstructing you to practise certain activities. That's why I choose only to breed dogs that are free in hips, elbows and eyes and I watch out as good as possible for other faults/diseases the Aussie might have. And if possible I also want the dogs to have gone through some sort of mantal evaluation such as MH, MT (swedish mentaltests), dog therapytests and so on.

To be able to evaluate the litters I breed I want the pupowners to X-ray their dog's hips and elbows at a grown age. I would also like the pupowners to do a MH (mental description) and possibly even a MT (mental test) with their grown up dog. Other evaluation, such as different tests/competitions would of course also make me very happy.
